Explore the aesthetically compelling and technically astounding photographic thesis projects of the 2014 graduating class of the School of Visual Arts Masters in Digital Photography program. Focusing on the 2014 Thesis Exhibition ‘23/7’ the app showcases a wide variety of projects by students who come from around the globe who work with industry experts to master the technical and conceptual issues of creating and completing a professional body of work. With 23 graduates in the seventh year of the program, the title ‘23/7’ plays off of the frenetic state of being ‘on’ around the clock and celebrates what shear dedication and determination can create. Projects include the exploration of personal history and self-identity; impact of change on rural and urban communities; understanding social issues and expectations all within a wide variety of photographic genres including abstract, still life, studio, location and fashion photography.
The app highlights the Apple iTunesU > Art & Architecture > Great Collections > SVA MPS Digital Photography i3 Lecture series, which features leading-edge digital fashion, editorial and fine-art photographers; industry experts, including editors, curators, art directors, and retouchers who bring unique and current insights about the ever-changing field of digital photography. The lecture series is continually featured in the ‘Art & Architecture’ Great Collections and allows viewers from around the word to enjoy and be inspired by the a wide variety of speakers including; successful landscape, portrait, fashion, editorial, conceptual and still life photographers.
SVA MPS Digital Photography is a concentrated course of studies that addresses the comprehensive digital imaging workflow, from image capture and enhancement to creating high quality, large-format prints and secure archiving strategies. The program is designed for students from a diverse range of photographic genres, including editorial, commercial, fine art and fashion. Under the guidance of leading photographers, retouchers, designers and studio managers, students master the latest tools and techniques to create technically outstanding and conceptually compelling images. In addition to developing a body of work, students become versed in image reproduction, issues in contemporary fine art photography and current business practices. Students are enrolled in either the New York City on-campus or innovative low-residency online program. Students in both programs participate in a required, intensive on-campus summer session to complete the thesis project deliverables including an electronic portfolio, branding materials, photographic book, and exhibition quality prints.
